Jordan's JDMS Diary

October 1999

October 29

This month is almost over and Jordan has enjoyed every minute of it. She has been cheerleading at all the football games with her sister. I've videoed every game, even though they do the same cheers and stunts. I'm just so excited that she is doing so well. It's nice too that she is lucky enough to participate with her sister. This is Jennifer's senior year and its been very special to all of us.

I've not had time to make daily entries with all the activities. Jennifer and Jordan are both starting basketball next week so I'm afraid I won't have many entries over the next few months either. I appreciate all of your comments in the guest book. My heart and prayers to out to each of you that are dealing with JDMS and other diseases.

I will take the time to enter any changes in Jordan's health, but fortunately, we haven't had any in quite some time. She is feeling great and can physically do anything she wants to. She is getting taller and her little figure is gradually coming back. Her face has slimmed down to it's normal size since she's been off the prednizone. Her lab work still looks good and she will be seeing Dr. C again in November. The only visible evidence of JDMS is a mild rash that doesn't bother her. She does have slight scaring on her knuckles, but nothing noticable unless you're looking for it.

She can hardly wait to start basketball practice in the morning. She's playing in a 6th through 8th grade league and is very excited. I, on the other hand, am concerned that her size may create some disappointments for her. She played in January of this year and was one of the oldest players. Her experience showed. This time, she'll be playing with girls that are on middle school teams. She may not shine quite as bright, but she thinks she'll be able to keep up with the best. I hope so.

Again, thank you very much for taking the time to read Jordan's diary. I do hope it gives you some idea of what JDMS is all about and that there is hope. For those of you that want advise, all I can say is that I believe my little girl is doing so well because of 3 things:

1. Our prayers, (your's and ours)

2. God leading us to good treatment

3. Jordan's determination and great desire to get well!

Please continue to keep Jordan and all of little ones in your prayers.

God bless you all.
