Joann,

That's really a lovely memory. And I think you described me perfectly. I
was a bit younger than most of you kids -- too young to participate in the
wilder things! Did you find me through the officials' guide? I saw your
dad last year at Pacific Coast and think I gave him my card.

My memories of squaw valley are of Barbara Grogan making us lay down on the
ice to measure our figure eights, of taking my preliminary dance there at 6
yrs old partnered by Charlie Tickner; getting to wear one of Juli's
watermelon colored dresses for a show, and I think I once did my "Moonlight
Sonata" number in my silver dress. Besides all the people you mentioned, I
also remember Lila and Billy Tilghman. I think Lila and I were in some
number together. Did Lisa Stillwell go to squaw too? Karen Groba may have
been up there too.

To this day, I can still remember the smell of the Ponderosa pines, there
was some sort of movie or TV ranch there; then there was the pizza place
with the sparkling apple cider. I also remember Squaw Valley in winter, and
marvelling at the icicles dripping off the buildings.

Squaw is where I first got to take lessons with Tim Brown and I loved the
group choreography class he did. Later, my summer trips were in Berkeley
instead of Squaw, where I also trained & did chroreography for my freestyle
with Tim and later took a few lessons from Kristy Ness too.

I'm still judging and skating. I skate about 2x week, it's a little more
social now, as next week we'll have our annual Tuesday night Potluck holiday
session; and I am working again on the rest of the Jr International dances.
The cha cha congalada is alot of fun. I went to an ice dance weekend in San
Jose in October, got to see some old timers from the bay area.

My mom is just as energetic as ever. We took a nice vacation back east this
fall. Her cartoons are still very funny and she does other mixed media
artwork as well. She also got a 24 Carrots award last year b/c she was one
of the original gang who worked on Bugs Bunny.
