Memories from Roy McKinstry
What I remember most was staying with all the girls in the McKinstry House. It was great fun every summer stealing money from all the girls to buy candy at the store. A few of my friends would help me. Hansi Standteiner, Glenn Poulsen, John Skerry, Bobby Van wetter, Teddy Armengol, Brad Dutton. Most of these guys are still in the Tahoe area. Most of us grew up to be ski racers and after we moved to Colorado in 1971 the summers were never the same. I tried to terrorize the girls at Beatty hall at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs but it was more secure than the houses at Squaw.
I would like to thank all the parents of those little girls who paid for them to stay at my Mom's house as all your proceeds financed my trip to summer ski racing camp in Chile in 1970.
Most of the names on this page I remember. I think I always was most interested in Amy B.
My mom still turns out great meals from a camp trailer in Mexico where she spends the winters on warm Mexican beaches at the ripe old age of 76. Barrel jumping in the ice shows was the only skating that interested me and to this day I can not stand to watch figure skating.
