J. Hensil:
Biographical information: I graduated in May 1996 from PA College of Optometry with degrees in optometry (OD) and low vision rehabilitation (MS). My career in vision impairment began at Westminster College, where I met Kevin (who was annoying at first, but ended up as my husband). Kevin had dancing eyes, and refused to answer any questions about it, so I did some digging to figure out why they moved like that. In doing this exploration, the realm of low vision opened up to me, and I have been hooked ever since. I live in Harrisburg, PA with my husband (who has congenital Nystagmus and incomplete Achromatopsia), and the leaders of our household, Murray the lop eared rabbit and Rocky, the wimpiest cat known to mankind. Hobbies include anything outdoors, devouring books on virtually any topic, and daydreaming about the horse farm that I will someday own.
Barbara McKee:
For the sake of diversity, and in the knowledge
that people with disabilities benefit most from being a unified group rather
than one splintered by disability type, this columnist writes on general issues,
rather than on ones specific to the visually impaired.
