My 1985 Lincoln Continental |
It is a standard model Continental, not the Givenchy or Valentino designer editions (basically appearance packages), painted in a solid Maroon Clearcoat. It has the ubiquitous Ford 5.0 liter (302 cu. in.) V8 with lots of tire spinning torque (250lbs. ft. @ 1600 RPM). The car is equipped with these options: Comfort/Convenience Package (Power decklid pulldown, Keyless entry system, Dual illuminated visor mirrors, Premium Sound stereo system with 6 speakers and a separate amplifier, Leather wrapped steering wheel, and Coach lamps), Twin Comfort Lounge Seats with power recline, leather interior, and vinyl bodyside protection moldings. The major options missing from my car are the integrated hands-free mobile phone, moonroof, Anti-Theft Alarm System, automatic dimming day/night mirror, ABS (a first for a U.S. automobile), and Traction-Lok limited-slip differential. |
My Continental is built on the Ford Fox chassis. As such, it shares parts with other, hotter Fords, like the Ford Mustang, Ford Thuderbid Turbo Coupe, Mercury Cougar XR7, and Lincoln Mark VII LSC. I personally would love a 1988 or later Mark VII LSC in Platinum Clearcoat Metallic with Charcoal leather interior. These Lincolns are very special and can keep up with many European products available during the time and most of today's cars as well. The 1988 and later LSC cars made 225 horsepower and 300 pound feet of torque, just like a Mustang, from their shared 5.0 liter HO (High Output) V8s. This Lincoln was designed with a more European taste and with export sales in mind. It was the first U.S. car with flush-mount composite headlights rather than the sealed beams of earlier models. Because my car shares parts with these decidedly sportier Fords, I can swap certain things to improve my car. |
