I made these silk dupioni pants to go with the Peacock Jacket. I was being very careful since this is rather expensive fabric which I purchased at Martha Pullen's warehouse. I got them all done, and they fit--fit so well that I couldn't sit down or move very fast. OH NO!! I was so upset. Well, my friend, Marian, suggested an inset down each outside leg--of course, why didn't I think of that?? All I thought of were dollar signs flying away. Her idea worked and they fit fine now. |

Here is a close-up of the inset. I used a border design from the set I put on the jacket from Hatched in Africa--Jacobean 2. I used a brighter blue thread to match the velvet jacket, and it is a much prettier outfit now, especially since it fits!! I drew lines on the fabric for the border, embroidered it, then cut the border out with 1/4" seam allowance on each side. I used my endless hoop, and it was so easy!! |
