Businesses Step Up for MS in Cambridge …
I asked a few businesses in Cambridge to wear our team shirts last Friday for MS Awareness Week and to promote the walk. Check these pictures out …
Bay Country Bakery
(Our Breakfast Sponsor for the Cambridge Walk)
Sunny Day Christian Preschool
Craig's Drug Store
Big Mario’s Pizza
Pin Pal Bowling Center
Portside Restaurant
Sherry's Barber Shop
Suicide Bridge Restaurant
(Our Lunch Sponsor for Cambridge Walk)
Thank you to all the businesses that participated. Due to the huge response in the community from last Friday, we have requested they do this again on two dates before the walk – Saturday, April 4th and Friday, April 17th . Please show your team pride and stop by to see and thank them.
WHY WE WALK –
Story #2
How does it feel to have MS? With this person’s permission, let me share with you a piece of an e-mail from last year that I saved from one of our 282 members that tells the story better than I ...
“Good
morning Rich - yes it is early. I can't sleep. The doctor confirmed on Friday
that I have lesions on my spine and thoracic area. He is doing another MRI of
my brain to compare it from my MRI in June. He hasn't said - you have MS - but
he says the lesions are indicative of MS...so basically I have my diagnosis.
Dr. XXX was at the hospital all day on Friday, and Dr. XXX advised me
the lesions were indicative of MS. So basically I am waiting to hear from
Dr. XXX but I told them I couldn't go all weekend to find out if
there were lesions or not. Needless to say I am scared, and upset,
but my life isn't over, and this isn't a death sentence. It just isn't the way
I pictured living my life. But, plans change all the time. I have a wonderful
support system. But, I still can't sleep right now!”
We walk and raise money for this person and 6,499 others in Maryland and thousands of others in the USA living with MS.
Don’t forget Cambridge members – Save the Date – Friday, April 17th – Portside will be donating a portion of dinner sales that night to our team. Do not miss this night – 2 days before the Cambridge walk. If you are walking in Cambridge, I will be giving out the shirts that night. Paint that restaurant orange !!
If you are walking in the other walk sites, I will be mailing your shirts to your team captain soon!! Team captains – let me know the numbers, the sizes, and where you want them mailed or dropped off (MD Teams).
Many thanks to all of you for your support.
Keep it Going !
Rich
