1999 Camaro Z28

This is my baby, it's a 1999 Camaro Z28. It's Navy Metallic Blue, has the six speed manual transmission, and also has T-Tops. The standard engine in the Z28 and the SS is an all aluminum 346CID LS-1, rated (conservatively) at 305 HP from the factory (the SS is rated at 320 due to the different exaust).

I have put aluminum "CAMARO" letters in the front grill since this pic was taken.

The aftermarket for thses cars is growing, and many owners are taking advantage of the growing list of modifications that can be done.

Here's my list of Mods so far:

B&M Ripper Shifter: One of the absolute best mods I have done. It doesnt make any more power, but it makes driving so much more enjoyable.

Direct Flow Air Lid: This is the first step to increased power for many people, because it is so easy and relatively cheap. It replaces the stock lid and gets rid of the baffles and air silencers that restrict flow

Fast Toys Ram Air: The FTRA takes air from under the car where the air for the radiator comes in, and forces it into the air cleaner box, adding more power the faster you go.

I had the car dynoed with these mods, I got 297 HP and 314 FtLbs of torque (corrected) at the rear wheels. Click here to see the dyno sheets.

Since then I have added:

Borla Cat Back Exaust: I love this exaust. You can adjust how much goes through the muffler, to go from quiet to loud. And the best to worst only made a 3 HP difference.

160 Degree thermostat: Pretty self explanitory.

I redynoed after these mods and got a corrected 314 RWHP and 327 RWTQ

I also have added:

Moser "Ford" 9 inch rear end assembly with Detroit True Trac and 4.30 gears. This is pretty much indestructable. I can now use Drag radials, ET Streets or slicks while dumping the clutch at 5K plus without worrying about my rear end fragging on me. And the gears give me the added torque I need to launch (they also make it much more enjoyable to drive on the street with the loss of Low RPM power the cam caused)

Added Hooker Long Tube Headers. These will give me more Horsepower and Torque over the stock manifolds, and aid in low RPM torque production more than short or mid length headers would. This is very benificial to street driving where you spend most of your time at low RPM

Comp Cams Xtreme Energy camshaft. Specs are 277/277 advertised duration, 224/224 duration at .050, and .568/.568 lift (though the cam card shows .567 for both). I a using Comp 918 Springs and 772 Titanium retainers to control the vavles.

SVT 30 pound fuel injectors.

SLP Subframe Connectors: These add structural integrity to the car.

Lakewood Lower Control Arms: These reduce flexing in the suspension components and help with wheelhop and traction.

Polyurethane Transmission Mount and Torque Arm Bushing

Throttle Body Coolant Bypass

EGR Mod

Throttle Stop Mod

Painted the Bowtie on the underside of the hood, the Hood Struts, Fuel rail, and Throttle body, red. Also painted the intake and some brackets silver. I will eventualy have everything painted.

My best Dragstrip run was 12.606 @ 111 MPH, I am working on tuning it also.

UPDATE: Latest Dyno gave me 330 HP and 336 Ft Lbs of torque, this was before the camshaft install.

I have also just upgraded the stereo system, to check it out, click here.
