Remains of the old stone wall on the rock ledge behind Battery Hunter.
It may date from 1794.
The "Old Redoubt" below Battery Hunter along the shoreline.
It may date from 1812 or later.
It may have been buried when the Endicott batteries were being constructed in 1902,
as there is evidence to suggest that it was in temporary use in 1874
while the "Fourth System" battery was being constructed.
Another view of the "Old Redoubt".
The top of the wall was about 5-feet high from the ground.
Interesting geological formations on the shoreline.
The dark colored basalt (of volcanic origin) is embedded in the granite.
More rock formations.
I know, its boring. But isn't it neat, anyway?
