The Rain

Today was a bit mixed up due to some morning rain. All of the rotational
activity schedules required some fast thinking and improvisation by the
school teachers and parent helpers. This resulted in the first round of
activities before lunch being cancelled and instead, Glenn W. provided a
projected screen overview of the camp web site so that the campers
could see how the rest of the world was observing them. This was
followed by a quick question time on some of the digital photos taken of
the week so far (there are hundreds).

After lunch, which was hot dogs and hot jam donuts, the rain had
stopped and the original camp program was engaged. Have a look at
these great activities…..

The Pengiuns

Tonight we all headed down to
the Penguin Parade by bus so
we had to have an early dinner
because Mr. Pollard said that the
penguins won’t wait for us. They
come into the beach just after
sunset and waddle up the beach
once they feel it is safe to do so.
We were very lucky to see about
100 come into shore because
this is very seasonal for them.
The park ranger told us that the
numbers were higher than
normal. Just as the last penguins
came in it started to rain again
so we jumped onto the bus and
headed back to camp.

The Evening

After an early supper (hot chocolate, green jelly with
whipped cream and chocolate frog stuck on top), a
vote was taken for which DVD  was to be the night’s entertainment. Everyone was invited to get
into their pyjamas, grab their pillows and spread themselves out in the recreational hall. The
popular DVD choice was “The School of Rock”. Right in the middle of the movie there was a big
flash of lightning as a storm went through Cowes and that resulted in a brown out. No need to
worry, everything was back to normal within minutes and the movie was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The children had a night off from doing their journals.
