Solomon Hasting
aka Hastings

                             Solomon Hasting was born April 29, 1818 in Maryland and died at his home seven miles north of
                        Barry IL, September 03, 1909.
                            He was married to Susanah Starkey in 1840.  To this union were born ten children, of whom three
                        are living, namely, George W., James A. and David.  He leaves to mourn his loss three sons,
                        twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren,
                        besides a hot of friends.
                            Funeral services were held at his home September 5 by Rev. Wood, after which his remains were
                        laid to rest beside his wife in the steward cemetery.

                            Dear father, it seems so hard to give you up
                             And leave us sad and lone;
                            But shall we grieve or shall we say
                             Lord let Thy will be done.
