"The Ocean"
A poem by Beth Nolan
A salty breeze was in the air, whipping clouds in the sky
The sands of tiny pink grains settled on the beach
The familiar call of the seagulls wake up a napping dog
Hidden in the sand, little white shells were half buried
Washing up on the shore were the ripples of waves
Glittering from the rays of the warm sun shining down
A clear sky appears like a reflection of the ocean blue
In the water, little minnows swim around
Boats let up their sails and head out to sea
In search of the big one, only seen in imaginations
People in swimsuits splash in the ocean
On the boardwalk, bikers and pedestrians look on
Children let out peals of laughter
Digging sandcastles by the waves
