Mrs. Mabel Watkins Rites Held Monday
Mrs. Mabel Watkins, 66, of Rt. 2, City, died Saturday, December 21, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, following an extended illness.
Born at Elizabeth July 8, 1902, she was a daughter of Mrs. Lena Bush Fluharty, Rt. 2, City, and the late J. W. Fluharty. She was a member of the Big Island Run (Pine Twist) Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to her mother are: three sons, Ernest Watkins, Rt. 2, City, Roger and Robert Watkins, Parkersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Lena) Huchinson, Rt. 2, City, and Mrs. Roy W. (Dorothy) Somerville of Scott Depot, W. Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Delcie Dennis, Morango, O., Mrs. Nellie Ash and Mrs. Alda Copen, of near Elizabeth; five brothers, Dale Fluharty of Beaver Falls, Pa., George Fluharty, Weirton, Floyd and Paul Fluharty of Davisville, and Warren Fluharty of Parkersburg; 21 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry O. Watkins, and by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church near Elizabeth with the Rev. Paul Higgins and the Rev. Joe Snyder officiating, and interment was in the Big Island Run Baptist Cemetery, Rt. 2, City. Services Held Sunday For Ott Watkins
Jarrie Ott Watkins, 63, Rt. 2, City, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, at his residence following a brief illness.
Born March 31, 1895, in Wirt County, he was the son of the late John and Edie George Watkins.
He was a member of the Big Island Run Baptist Church, and the Jr. O.U.A.M, Palestine Council No. 33. He was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of Wirt Post No. 55, The American Legion, City.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mabel Fluharty Watkins; three sons, Roger Watkins, Parkersburg, Harold and Robert Watkins, both of Rt. 2, City; two daughters, Mrs. Lena Hutchinson, Rt. 2, City, and Mrs. Dorothy Somerville, Scott Depot, W. Va.; and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pine Twist Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Higgins and the Rev. Joe Snyder officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery where graveside rites were conducted by members of the Jr. O.U.A.M. Dale R. Fluharty
Long-time Arizona resident
Dale R. Fluharty, 85, of Sierra Vista died Wednesday, March 3, 1993 at the Sierra Vista Care Center.
Fluharty was born Oct 8, 1907 in Elizabeth, W.V. to James and Lena (Bush) Fluharty. After moving to New Brighton, Penn., in 1941, he was employed by Koppers in Kobuta, Penn., for many years. He retired to Tucson in 1971, and move to Sierra Vista in 1992. He married Mildred Clara Joy, May 12, 1933, who preceded him in deat in May 1985. He was a member of the Sierra Vista First Church of the Nazarene, and participated in a number of mission projects throughout the state.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary (George) Aubrey of Sierra Vista and Shirley (James) Robinson of Waterloo, N.Y.; two sons, Gary (Bobbie) Fluharty of Portland, Me., and Larry (Chris) Fluharty of Sierra Vista; daughter-in-law, Lillian (Leonard) Fluharty of Beaver Penn.; three brothers, Floyd (Luda) Fluharty of Concord, Va., Paul (Thelma) of [sic] Fluharty of Walker, W.V., and Warren (Beulah) Fluharty of Parkersburg, W.V.; two sisters, Alda Copen and Nellie (Harold) Ash, both of Elizabeth, W.V.; eight grandchildren; and two great grand children.
Memorial services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene Sierra Vista with the Rev. Joe Watkins, III officiating. Receiving time will follow the service in the church's Family Life Center. Interment is in the Evergreen Cemetery, Tucson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sierra Vista First Church of the Nazarene or the Alzheimer's Assoc., 70 East Lake Street, Chicago, Ill. 60601-9971.
