In early April Cassie somehow broke her left front leg..........

The leg was pinned and the soft cast changed every other week.Another month of gradual exercise and Cassie was looking great!!

About 7 weeks after removing the cast, Cassie was outside with us when the leg broke again - in the exact same spot. We did not feel we wanted to put this youngster thru yet another long period of surgery/healing - with the great possibility that the leg would again, at some time in the future, break. So... after much thought and consideration... we decided to amputate the leg. It was very definitely the right decision for us and for Cassie! This group of photos of her was taken the day following the surgery and Cassie already had a smile on her face most of the time! She healed quickly and even more quickly learned how to manage and balance on just three legs. Today she is a happy, healthy youngster that can keep up with just about anyone!!
