The High King

by Lloyd Alexander

The High King was the winner of The Newbery Award and after you read this book you will understand why. It is the crowning (no pun intended) end to The Prydain Chronicles.

It is an epic tale and so much happens between the front and back cover of this book, a detailed review of The High King would do it a dishonor. Once again, the reader is sure to laugh aloud, shed true tears, feel the flush of hatred for evil, and the rush of praise for good.

Lloyd Alexander has written a staple in fantasy literature, and I am very thankful that it was given The Newbery Award. If you only read one of The Prydain Chronicle books (which I don't know why you'd *only* read one), read The High King!

Another note, read this Chronicle slow. Savor the pages and adventure. But one good thing with books, you may again make the adventure to Prydain again and again over the years that will come. I have, and every time I read The Prydain Chronicles they are refreshing to me.
