A Wrinkle in Time

by Madeleine L'Engle

This book sat on my shelf for quite some time before I actually sat down to read it. Many a time I had looked at it, but passed over it to read other books, or even reread other books. This is much to my shame, for the day I finally picked up A Wrinkle in Time and began to read it, I found that I had put off reading a very good book indeed!

A Wrinkle in Time is a well-deserving Newbery Award winner. L'Engle's style is easy to follow although she often delves into pretty deep and complex scenes and characters. Sometimes I felt like I was reading something connected with C.S Lewis's Narnian Chronicles, but with a sci-fi twist.

Apart from a thrilling storyline, A Wrinkle in Time also runs through some good moralistic teachings as well. As the end of the book approaches, the climax rises as well. When it is over, you wish there were more. And thankfully, there are more books in this series!
