"The New World Book of Harveys"
A HARVEY BOOK REVIEW

A few years ago I received several emails from Harvey Researchers who had received information in the mail from Halbert's World Books, concerning a book about Harveys. After hearing so much in the past couple of years about a genealogy book scam out of Bath, Ohio, (where, coincidently, Halbert's is located) I felt somewhat obligated to order the book so that I could tell all the Harveys on-line what was in it. I received the book yesterday, and here is my review:

Appearance:

This is a paper-bound book (not laminated paper...just regular card-stock) of about 400 or so pages. The pages are illustrated in a cartoon-ish fashion, disturbingly reminiscent of those children's Bible Stories books....

Contents:

Out of the 400 or so pages, 300+ pages are listings of Harveys currently living in the USA, name and addresses which are obviously extracted from one of those telephone book cd-roms.

From the remaining 100 or so pages, subtract about 70 pages of 5th grade "A Brief History of Civilization" and "American History", all very generalized, and not pertaining specifically to Harveys.

Then subtract another 10 pages of general "Genealogy 101" information (a few pedigree forms, and some addresses of where to write for Vital information).

Ok, here is the good stuff: The remaining 20 or so pages has some Harvey Coat of Arms information, a few references about Harvey Immigration, and a nice extract from Passenger Lists (which will all appear in The Harvey Genealogist post haste).

Bottom line:

This is an expensive Harvey Address book at $40.00 a pop. I will place the passenger list and immigration information in The Harvey Genealogist. Save your money!
