1 T. shortening 3 t. baking powder
1 C sugar 1 C milk
1 egg, well-beaten 1/2 t. salt
2 C flour 1/2 t. nutmeg
Directions: Cream shortening and sugar. Add milk, eggs, salt, and
nutmeg. Sift flour. Measure and sift baking powder thoroughly. Add
enough flour to make the dough soft. Chill. Turn onto lightly floured
board. Roll to 1/3" thick. Cut with floured doughnut cutter.
Fry in deep fat at 365* until brown. Drain on absorbent paper. Roll
in white sugar while still warm. Enjoy!
