1. This registered Maine Coon cat/kitten is sold as a ___________________________________________________.

2. Cats sold as pets or show alters will be altered before one year of age. Upon breeder's receipt of veterinarian's verification of altering, the buyer will be provided registration papers.

3. Cats sold as pets will not be shown in competition without permission of the breeder.

4. Cats sold for breeding purposes will have registration papers provided at the time of purchase or, if they are not yet available, as soon as possible after purchase.

5. Cats sold for breeding purposes are guaranteed fertile unless infertility results from an injury or disease occurring after purchase. If a breeder cat is not fertile (as excepted above), $_________ will be refunded (the difference in price between pet and breeder).

6. This cat is, to the best of our knowledge, healthy at the time of sale and has had the following inoculations: _______________________________________________. If the cat is to be shown, or is exposed to cats who are being shown, and/or cats new to the household, and/or indoor-outdoor cats, we recommend it be vaccinated with a four-way vaccine at six-month intervals. Queens should be vaccinated one month before being bred. Cats who are not being shown or exposed to at-risk cats (as described above) may be vaccinated yearly.

7. HEALTH GUARANTEE: Our health guarantee covers viral and bacterial diseases, fungus infections, and internal and external parasites. It extends through ________________________________________. In order to qualify for this guarantee, the kitten must be examined by a licensed veterinarian within 48 hours after delivery (except Sundays and holidays). If during the guarantee period, the cat/kitten seems ill, it is to be examined by a veterinarian. If the vet feels that the animal is ill and that the illness was present prior to sale, the breeder should be contacted at once, before any major treatment is begun (except in an emergency situation). The breeder will (upon receipt of a statement from the examining veterinarian that the illness was present prior to sale) pay the cost of the medical treatment (up to the purchase price of the animal). If the cat/kitten should die from a problem present prior to sale, the breeder will either replace the animal with one of equal quality, or refund the purchase price plus cost of shipping. The total liability of the breeder shall in no case exceed the total price listed on the first page of this contract. We guarantee this cat/kitten to be FeLV and FIV-negative at time of sale.

8. The purchaser agrees to the following:

A. The cat will receive its booster shots as described in Paragraph 7, and yearly veterinary examinations.

B. The cat will not be denied needed veterinary attention. If the owner is unsure whether or not the animal is in need of medical services, a vet will be contacted, the situation will be explained, and the vet's advice will be acted upon.

C. The cat will not be allowed outside except on a leash (under close supervision), or in a completely enclosed run.

D. The cat will be given the proper diet in the proper amount (as specified in writing at time of sale), and will have fresh water available at all times.

E. The cat will not be declawed.

F. The cat will receive frequent and kind human attention.

G. If for reasons other than the animal's health you cannot retain ownership of the cat, the breeder will be given the right of first refusal (for no more than the original purchase price in the case of an unaltered cat, or $_________ for a spay/neuter). Additionally, the purchaser agrees to obtain the breeder's permission before selling or leasing an unaltered cat from this cattery to any other party for breeding purposes.

H. No cat/kitten from this cattery may be bred to other than a registered Maine Coon Cat.

I. No cat/kitten from this cattery may be sold or given to an animal shelter, sold or given to a pet store, abandoned, or sold or given to a laboratory.

9. If the buyer, having put a deposit on a cat, should later change his mind about the purchase, the deposit will be refunded upon re-sale of the kitten for at least as much as $_________ (the original quoted price). If the kitten must be re-sold for less than $_________, the deposit will be refunded less the difference between $_________ and the re-sale price.
