There is an Annual Statewide Catholic Homeschooling & Curriculum Fair coming up Saturday, April 25th at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Harrisburg, PA. This event is being sponsored by the Statewide Network of Catholic Homeschoolers of PA. If you would like to receive a brochure and registration form, e-mail your request to cathhmschpa@ihs2000.com. If postmarked by April 1, 1998, the cost is $18 for the first family member, $12 spouse. If postmarked after April 1, 1998, the cost is $21 for the first family member and $17 for the spouse.

A little extra information: The program includes two guest speakers; Dr. William Marra (Homeschooling: Possible, Desirable, & Urgent) and Fr. Angelus Shaughnessy, OFM, Cap (Our Only Contribution To the Upbuilding of the Kingdom of God). There will also be a panel consisting of homeschool parents including those who deal with special needs children. The curriculum fair will run all day. Some of the vendors who will be represented are: Catholic full service curriculum providers, catholic text books/supplemental publishers, computer software, Catholic colleges, and much, much more.

The Florida Network of Catholic Home Educators is hosting a statewide Catholic homeschooling conference in Winter Park (Orlando area) on April 25, 1998 from 8:00am - 9pm. Conference speakers include:

We are blessed to have two excellent emcees for our conference; Steve Motyl (Father of two homeschooled children and producer of Living His Life Abundantly- EWTN TV and radio program) and Ed Gudan (Homeschooling father of five and vice-president of the Catholic Homeschool Network of America). After the key note address, "Evangelizing the Catholic Home School Family in Communion with the Church", given by Fr. Richard Gill L.C., there will be two sessions of speakers. Each participant can choose which talk they would prefer to attend. St. Joseph Communications will be taping all conference talks and tapes will be available for purchase at the conference.

Some of the conference speakers and talks include: Laura Miller, mother of eight children, St. Tarcicians of the Sacred Heart Homeschool Leader in Jacksonville "Homeschooling a Houseful"; Richard Woodman from Orlando, "Why Homeschool?"; Fr. Brian Mullady O.P., retreat master, national speaker, and host of TV show on EWTN, "Growth in Grace and Holiness Through Homeschooling"; Dr. Anthony Andres, professor at Christendom College will speak on "What the Church Teaches about Evolution/Creationism"; Dr. Mary Kay Clark, director of Seton Home Study and author of ‘Catholic Homeschooling: A Handbook for Parents, "Living the Sacramental Life"; Dr. Chris Burns homeschooling mother and professor at Christendom College, "Dating/Courtship: What’s a Catholic to Do?"; Ed Gudan, homeschooling dad of five, national conference speaker, and V.P. for the Catholic Homeschool Network of America (CHSNA) "The Fathers Role in the Family and Homeschooling"; Kim Gudan, thirteen year homeschooling mother of two sons in the Legionaries of Christ Seminary, a daughter who is consecrated in Regnum Christi, and two younger children at home, "Mothers: Educating the Domestic Church for the Third Millennium"; Kathleen Woodman, 12 year homeschooling mother of six children and support group leader for Sacred Heart Home Educators in Orlando, "Your Child’s Schoolbooks: Are They Always Accurate?"; Vicky Coughlin, homeschooling mother and FNCHE Coordinator, "The Pillars of Homeschooling: Support Groups/Umbrella Schools"; Robin Emery, homeschooling mother and support group leader in Plant City, "Beginnings: How Do I Homeschool?"; Jana Carpenter, homeschooling mother of six and pro-life activist, "Teaching the Virtues in the Home"; and Delores Hambelton, homeschooling mother, "Discipline and Character Development."

Our Lady of the Rosary, Seton Home Study, Our Father’s House, and other curriculum providers will have curriculum available for purchase. There will also be good quality literature, Catholic tee-shirts, spiritual classics, and religious articles. Thomas Aquinas College, Franciscan University of Steubenville, Magdelan College, and Christendom College have also been invited to answer your questions about continuing education.

Arch Curriculum Fair

Saturday, May 16, 1998. Apostolate of Catholic Homeschoolers will host a curriculum fair and conference. $3.00 per person. St. Jerome Catholic Church, in Houston, Texas. Interested people can contact Karri Kinchen 281-376-9740 or Camilla Bauer 281-996-5908. We will have speakers and vendors.
