Subject: Popsicles and playing with the hose
July 26, 1999

dear famly and friends!

Well I can almost speak for myself. My vocabulary is expanding. I now say momomomom, dadadaddadda, cat, dog and up as before. (Those remain my big words) But I have now added new ones.... bottle, shoe, out, book, nodding yes and no, Oscar (the cat). Other words I can say in situations so they can be understood, but they might not really be words yet... bath, socks, John (friend), belly, blanket, thanks(I am really into b bbbbbb words). I also say a whole lot without saying anything, bellybutton, nose, eyes, mouth, hair, hungry, thirsty, I'm awake now, clap, happy (same as clap), look at me ( same as clap), this is frustrating (same as I'm awake now).

I don;t like to have my hair washed, but I do like popsicles. I can hold my own push up pop and get my face all covered. Mom and dad put the wading pool in the back and I like to splash in it. I can drink out of the hose when I am not pouring it on myself.

I scribble on the back walk with chalk and can stack nesting cups (Thankyou Kathryn). Just like the book says I should be able to. I ask to be put in my highchair when I am hungry (Thank you ladies for the highchair) Mom and dad have had to get bigger clothes for me becasue I am having a growing spurt. I even got lavender tennis shoes, and pocahontus boots for my trip to Alaska.(Aug 15-22)

Yesterday at the second hand shop mom and daaaaddadad found me my first jeans jacket with pooh and piglet on the back. It is very cute! I like to wear it around and look at myself in the mirror.

Uncle bill sent some pictures of me he took in the hospital (I had pnuemonia, but am better now. We see the specialist on Aug. 9) If you already have these pictures, just know that I really like them. I look soooo grown up.

I have been working hard on running and climbing and can do both pretty well. I can even climb up on the coffee table, although I don't do it very often because mom and dad get very excited.

If you were here I would grin at you and point at something and say 'hummm?" until you told me what it was. I would stomp around in my black patent leather shoes. And work very hard at blowing bubbles and sometimes make one.

Love

Emily
