The same cake, two very different ways.

This shows you how you can take the same idea, and make it totally differently. The first cake was used for a baby naming, while the second one was to celebrate the 150th birthday of Jewish Family Services. On the first cake, I used rolled buttercream for both the icing and the bow. On the pink layer, I used two cookie cutters to make impressions on the cake. Then I used buttercream icing to outline the marks (one cutter was a girl, the other was a baby carriage). On the purple layer, I used my pizza cutter to make diagonal lines. The bow was rolled out and formed by hand.

The balloon cake was made using buttercream icing for both cakes. The balloons were piped on, and the second cake added. The bow is made from rolled buttercream. The card is a graham cracker!
