Here's the happy ending story of AJ: ![]() We adopted AJ on May 17th, 2008 - almost a year ago. It was a bright sunny day and we drove from downtown Chicago to the shelter to meet AJ (we previously spotted him on petfinder.com). We were worried that he would get adopted during our long drive from downtown as it was Saturday and a very nice spring day. However, when we got to T.L.C. AJ was still there in his cage with his food untouched, jumping up and down (luckily, he was put on hold for us). We took him outside and he rolled in the grass and licked our faces and gave Sausage (the deer) kisses and even tried to scare the turkeys by squeezing under the fence. Several weeks prior to that we lost our little Russian tortoise and were heartbroken, so we decided to adopt a puppy to fill the void and we always wanted to adopt a dog. AJ is an awesome puppy - he filled the void to the brim and more!! He is very playful and is a typical beagle (howling when he spots the bunny or when we get home). He has calmed down a lot in the past year (he was neutered in August), but he still gets pretty hyper when we have company. Everyone just adores him since he is such a cutie and is so happy all the time. He also LOVES to sleep (in our bed of course). I am not a morning person either, so I totally understand how he feels – he never wants to get up in the morning when we leave for work and we have to basically drag him out for his walk. He sleeps till lunch when we come home and walk him for a second time – that’s when he is finally awake and excited to be out. AJ recently went for his annual check up and is very healthy. We got him vaccinated against most common canine viruses and he is worm free (he had some when we adopted him, so that was good to hear). Thank you for trusting us with AJ, he is a great dog and he brings us a lot of joy every day!! Attached is a picture of AJ after the bath the day we brought him home and later with his cousin Tuna (it’s a miracle we got those two to sit still). Mike and Natasha Kline ![]() ![]() |
