Here's the happy ending story of Cali:

After months of begging my father (who was very much a "dog" person) for a kitten, I adopted Cali from T.L.C. when I was a sophomore in high school in 1992. The story we learned was that she was found abandoned with her 2 siblings the day after Christmas. She then became my belated Christmas present.
We took her home that day, and upon her first introduction with our adult German Short-haired Pointer, she dashed underneath the dishwasher, squeezing herself into a corner where only a kitten her size could fit. My very unhappy father, probably wondering what he just got himself into, then proceeded to spend the next few hours tearing apart the dishwasher to retrieve my Christmas present. She came out just fine (not without a few dustballs!) and over the years became best buds with the Pointer, and later, our Chocolate Lab. She now lives with me on the East Coast, and fashions herself as a future model. :)
Thank you for all you do!!! Cali says to give you a BIG thank you (and a friendly meow)!
