Here's the Happy Ending story of Chassis (formerly Maggie): ![]() On March 1st I went to the shelter with the hopes of meeting and adopting a puppy I had seen on petfinder.com. I was saddened to see that although I had arrived right after the shelter had opened, that puppy had already found a home with someone else. I decided to inquire about another puppy I had also seen on petfinder.com - her name at the time was Maggie. It didn't take me long to see that everything happens for a reason - something about Maggie just clicked with me! I knew she was meant to be a part of our family. Now her name is Chassis - pronounced chas-see, and she has already brought us such happiness. A friend of ours stopped by later that evening and Chassis wagged her tail and acted happy to have a visitor - it was cute. The most amazing thing was how she reacted a little later, when my boyfriend got home. She went absolutely nuts with joy - like somehow she knew that he was hers!! She was so happy - she followed him everywhere right away, much differently than when my friend came by. Somehow she just knew, it was amazing. It was sad at first for me because the only command that Chassis seemed to recognize was "no". She didn't seem to get what "come here, puppy" even meant. It made me so sad to think of everything she must have been thru in her short life so far. She didn't even know her original name when called. Now she is getting used to her new name and even comes sometimes when we call it. I hope that she is as happy with us as we are with her! (truth is, sometimes I think we spoil her!! haha) She loves going to work riding in the truck with my boyfriend, and for the most part only has eyes for him! When we are all home together before she lays down she comes to "check" we are each in our proper spots and then she will lay down. When we pet her, it almost sounds like she is purring!! When she sleeps, she has the most adorable little snore!! I just had same day surgery a couple of weeks ago, and she seemed to know and got very "protective" of me. When I had to get up to use the restroom or something, she would gently walk behind me, then wait at the foot of the stairs until I came down, then follow me back to the couch. Only after I lay back down did she also go lay back down. She would get up every now and then and come over to the couch I was on and look me up and down and put her head by me. She would only go lay back down after I patted her head a bit. She is finally over a little cough and sneeze she had when we got her, so she will be getting fixed and chipped in a few days. I can not begin to tell you how glad I am the other puppy ended up with another family, as Chassis is absolutely the one for us! I apologize for rambling on and on - people tease me that I talk about Chassis the way that people talk about a new baby. I just can not begin to thank you folks for all you do and for bringing Chassis into our lives. Thank you once again, Tracy Lesmeister |
