Here's the happy ending story of Homer:
Dear Animal Shelter,
July 4 2007 our beloved dog Blackjack died of multiple cancers. We were devastated by this. Coming home every day was a misery because we missed him so much. On August 4 2007 we went to your shelter just to look and found a litter of 8 black lab mix puppies. You were very crowded that Saturday and 6 of the puppies were snatched up right away. There were 2 smaller runts left from that litter and we chose one of them (just a little tiny guy). We brought him home and he brought laughter back in our home. He is NOTHING like our old dog in fact he is silly and ridiculous but we love him all the more for it. He is almost 2 years old now and weighs about 85 pounds of solid muscle.
He is wonderful and he saved us from despair. We still miss Blackjack every day but Homer (the new guy) gives us new things to think about.
