Here's the happy ending story of Lady:
We lost one of our dogs to old age in November of 2003. Our other dog (Chooch) seemed so lonely we thought about getting another dog. He is 10 years old and we weren't sure a puppy would be too much for him to handle. I decided that we would adopt a dog from a shelter. We wanted a medium to large female. I had surgery recently and will be off work 3 months so this ended up being a perfect time to adopt. We went to every shelter in Will County and spent hours on the internet. We had narrowed it down to 5-6 dogs. On March 31, I called TLC one more time. We were told they had 2 females. We brought along Chooch just in case.
The minute I saw Lady I said to myself "If she gets along with Chooch, I want her." They got along well. Chooch put up with her playfulness. So we took her home. We were told the family had to give her up due to their child's allergies. From day 1 it was as if she lived here all her life. The family had to be heartbroken to have to give up such a beautiful dog. They sure did an excellent job of training her. She hasn't had one accident in the house. In fact she goes to the door and barks to go out. She sits, speaks, gives paw, and loves to run and fetch. She is crate trained and loves to go for rides in the car. She is a good watchdog but once people are in the yard she thinks she's a 70 pound lap dog. After 3 days here, I started leaving the crate door open and she is fine and hasn't done anything wrong in the house. In fact the only time we lock the gate is when we will be gone for more than an hour. I can't tell you how happy we are with Lady. Thanks to TLC and her former family for saving her for us. I wish they could know how happy she is and that she is in a loving home and will be for life.
Sincerely,
Bob and Janice Elwood
