Here's the happy ending story of Lucy (formerly Mini): ![]() Hi! My forever name is Lucy. When I came to the TLC my name was Mini; my former owner had given me up because "I required too much attention". (Can you imagine? I'm a beagle puppy. Of course, I require attention. But I am worth it!!) I came to TLC on March 17, 2007. I was brought to TLC in a van with about a dozen other younger puppies by some nice people who rescued me from a dog pound in southern Illinois. My forever family (Melissa and Michael) had been waiting for ~2 hours. I saw my new mom and dad immediately when they brought me in the building. I put on my best smile and barked as cute as I could to get my new mom's attention. Somehow, I just knew that she was the one deciding which puppy to take home. (My new parents had just lost their previous dog, Nikki, a week earlier. Nikki was thirteen and very sick. I wish I could have met her.) My new mom picked me right away and they took me home all the way to Madison WI. (Actually, we spent the night at Gramma and Grampa's house where I played with two Boston Terriers (my new aunt and uncle) and two Pugs (my new cousins)). ![]() When I arrived at TLC, I weighed 14.5 pounds. I have now lived with my forever family for over 6 months and I weigh about 30 pounds. (Mom hopes that I am finished growing but we'll see.) The mange took about 2 months to clear up, some of the medicine that was tried made me a sick so we had to try a few different medicines. I like visiting the vet; the vet tech gives me lots of treats. (I didn't even mind getting spayed; I was up and running in no time.) I lost quite a bit more hair before the mange cleared up and when the hair grew back, it came back a different color. Weird, huh? (Look at the difference around my right eye in the top and bottom pictures.) Anyway, I am doing well. My favorite past times are: chewing rawhides (bottom picture), destroying paper towel rolls, going to the offleash dog park in Verona WI (middle picture), and running around my new forever home. Thank you TLC for transporting me to the Chicago area so that my parents could adopt me!!!!! ![]() |
