Here's the happy ending story of Molly "The Pit Bull": ![]() It has been approximately 6 months since we came to your shelter and ran across Molly. We were pretty sad at that time as we just lost a cat that has been part of our lives for 19 years. I did not want another cat because I knew I could not get a cat as good as Tigger... so we looked at the dogs. I won't deny that we passed up the one in the cage several times that was labeled as a Pit Bull, but we always returned to her. We finally took Molly for a walk and eventually home with us. Although my wife picked her out, Molly still knew my wife was the cat lover and needed the most convincing. So Molly took advantage of the opportunity on the drive home to sit on my wife's lap and prove to her that we made the right decision. We were skeptical, as were our neighbors, based on all the bad media surrounding Pit Bulls. I won't deny there aren't bad natured dogs, including Pit Bulls, but with the love and attention that any animal deserves you can have a truly loving and caring friend. We would not trade Molly for anything. Her behavior and characteristics will make you laugh all day long. She is a big cuddling lap dog and will curl up to you for hours on end. Our six year old son refers to her as his medicine dog when he's sick because she never leaves his side. She knows she has us right where she wants us and, in turn, will do anything to stay by our side, including jumping our neighbor's five foot fence (twice) to come to their back yard where we were standing and breaking through our screen window that same day to come sit on our neighbor's front step in order to get inside. She was new to our home and stray prior to being at the shelter, so we think she was extremely scared to be separated from us. She still hates when we leave, but I guess she loves us... Her strength and gentleness amaze us every day. I cannot say that she would never hurt a fly because she tries to catch and eat them, but she has made friends with all of our neighbors and many of our neighbor's dogs. Our family is in agreement that she is one of the best things that have come into our home. We have attached a picture for you to see and to show to others that may be skeptical about Pit Bulls. I think this picture can really show everybody just how vicious a Pit Bull can be.:) We realize every dog has a different personality and temperament. Hopefully other families will see just how wonderful the Pit Bull is. I know she has opened our eyes. Thank you, The Arndt Family |
