Here's the happy ending story of Rusty: ![]() My wife and I adopted Rusty, a 1 year-old Irish Setter, in June of 2007 and he is a great addition to our family! Rusty is playful and full of energy. When we got him we found that he is completely housebroken and he has never had an “accident” in the house. He lets us know when it’s time to go out by tapping the door with his paw. He’s a great dog and he likes to be the center of attention. Rusty also enjoys playing with other dogs and he recently completed basic obedience class. He did very well, although that doesn’t mean he still doesn’t enjoy running off with the occasional sock or newspaper. Over the summer Rusty enjoyed playing in the yard with his Irish Setter cousin and some of the other dogs in his extended family. Rusty likes his yard and has proven to be quite helpful with picking up sticks and branches. He’s also an avid football player. When he wears himself out, he likes to lounge in “his” chair while chewing on his treats. We took him up to a family cottage in Wisconsin over the summer where we learned that he loves to swim. We went out for a ride on the pontoon boat and after a few minutes Rusty began to cry. We stopped the boat to go for a swim and soon learned why Rusty was crying…he wanted to swim too! We opened the gate to jump in and he followed us right in. He went back a few more times for more. He now has a ramp so he can easily get in and out of the water from the pier or the boat when he decides it time to take a dip to cool off. Rusty enjoys his nightly walks around the neighborhood and eagerly waits by the door with his leash when it’s time to go. Rusty gets lots of compliments on what a good looking dog he is, so we think that has something to do with his love for his walks. He recently went to the vet for his annual exam and he has gained 8 pounds since we adopted him. He’s eating well and the vet says he is in A+ shape all around! Rusty is enjoying his new family and we are enjoying him too! We’d just like to thank TLC for giving us the opportunity to find a great dog like Rusty and for all the good work they do each day.
