Here's the happy ending story of Sadie:
We adopted Sadie from TLC in August of 2003. After our
cherished West Highland Terrier died in June, the family decided (except my husband)
that we wanted another dog. We still had our dog Gertie that we adopted from a
different shelter several years ago, and we felt she would be lonely without
a canine companion.
My husband felt that Gertie would be fine as an only dog,
but he eventually agreed to go along with his wife and children. His one
condition was that the dog would be a smaller dog. The kids and I also decided
we wanted to give a home to a dog that really needed one, so we started
checking the TLC website every Friday. I had a Basset Hound Mix when I was growing up
that I totally loved, so I was very excited when I saw Sadie on the website. It said she was a Bassett Mix. We arrived at the shelter before it opened on
Saturday morning and waited anxiously with several other people. I
questioned people to see if they were there for Sadie but luckily nobody one was. My
daughter, son, and I took Sadie for a walk in the yard; she was very hyper! It
didn't matter, I had my heart set on her, and she made the kids laugh.
Well she has been with us for 5 months now and we have definitely had some
challenging times (like when she chewed up my husband's wallet), but she is starting to
calm down and we have recently started obedience training. She continues to
make everyone laugh and we love having her as part of our family.
