Here's a happy ending for Zelda, a kitten we adopted from TLC 3 weeks ago: ![]() A day after we got her, she began sneezing. The sneezing got progressively worse, and she also became congested and was having trouble breathing. We took her to the vet, who diagnosed her with an upper respiratory infection and put her on antibiotics. Needless to say, we were very unhappy that our new kitten was sick and uncomfortable. However, the vet explained to us that it was simply a viral infection similar to a human cold, and that she'd be fine with time and proper care. Needless to say, Zelda felt better within a week or so. She suddenly gained alot of energy and started behaving like a normal kitten again. Now she's vibrant and happy, running around the house and playing (or getting into trouble, whichever way you like to look at it!). She greets us every morning and when we come home in the evenings, and we have a lot of fun playing with her and laughing at her. She has made us both very happy and we are so thankful to TLC for taking care of her and letting us bring her into our family. Thank you, Doug & Kim Lockport ![]() June 4, 2008: In Loving Memory of Zelda Dear TLC, Back in June 2003, we adopted a little gray kitten from your shelter. I wrote a happy ending for Zelda a few weeks after we got her. I wanted to update and let you know that Zelda passed away on June 4, 2008 after a week of battling an unknown illness. The vets weren't able to figure out what had made her so sick because she was too unstable to endure biopsies and other procedures. We are still in shock that she went from being happy and healthy to extremely ill so quickly, and that her illness took her life so swiftly. She was only 5 years old. While her ending certainly wasn't happy, the 5 precious years we spent with her were. Zelda was a lovable, fun cat with her own distinct personality. She was always happy and we loved her like a daughter. We have lots of wonderful memories of her. We'll always remember her chasing milk rings around the kitchen, greeting us at the door when we came home, and curling up at our feet in bed every night. We are very thankful for the love she gave us and the time she spent with us. Zelda changed our lives and made me realize how much love I am capable of giving. She was my first pet, and I am ever grateful to TLC for taking care of her and providing a safe temporary home for her. Doug & Kim ![]() |
