An old distressed doll house gets a new life......

After I got the house I realized the roof shingles were wrong. They were not in scale and did nothing to add charm to the house.  They were not original either.

So I removed them and underneath discovered the red roof that was typical of german doll houses of the early part of the 20th century.....

I am now in the process of repainting all the trim.   I decided that I really
like the idea of a yellow house, with a black roof, white trim and perhaps
green doors.  We will see if that is what it turns out to be.

Meanwhile, I have painted the back and sides of the house, a very pale
yellow.  I decided I did not need to put up the Victorian shingles on those
areas.  Instead I will only do it on the front.

I have also painted the trim white.  Now I have to get to work on cutting out
the little roof shingles.  I am going to use painted sandpaper in two colors,
black and dark gray.
