He married Margaret Jean JONES in Mingo Junction, Jefferson, OH, USA, 29 MAY 1947. Margaret was born in George's Run, Jefferson, OH 20 MAY 1923. Margaret died 25 DEC 1993 in Abilene, Taylor, TX, at 70 years of age.

He was baptized in Mingo Junction, Jefferson, OH, USA, 14 JUL 1918. Religion: religion unknown.(179) He graduated from high school in Mingo Junction, Jefferson, OH, USA, 1935. School: Mingo High School.(180) John served in the U.S. Army in various locations, 26 SEP 1941 - 26 SEP 1945.(181) He participated in D-Day landings at Salerno and Anzio beachheads, Naples and Po Valley Campaigns in Italy.

He was decorated while serving in the military in Conca, Italy, 27 JUN 1944.(182) He was awarded, by General Order Number 131, the Soldier's Medal for heroism as set forth in the following citation:

"John J. Berescik, 35029354, Sergeant, Infantry, Headquarters Company, * * Tank Battalion. For heroism not involving actual conflict with the enemy. On 9 May 1944, near Conca, Italy, Sergeant BERESCIK voluntarily and at the risk of his life used his bare hands in battling a fire in an ammunition- loaded halftrack. His heroic action saved valuable government property from destruction and prevented possible injury to his fellow soldiers. Residence at enlistment: Mingo Junction, Ohio."

John Joseph BERESCSIK and Margaret Jean JONES had the following children:
