16. Abraham5 HASKETT (William4, Anthony3, Anthony2, Thomas1 HESKETH) was born in Pasquotank Co., NC 24 FEB 1733.(880) Abraham died DEC 1817 in Randolph Co., NC, at 84 years of age.(881)

He married Jemima LACY in Perquimans Co., NC, 1 MAR 1753.(882) Jemima was born in Pasquotank Co., NC.

He made a will in Randolph Co., NC, 17 DEC 1817.(883) I, ABRAHAM HASKET, of the County of Randolph and the State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, and knowing that it is ordained for all mankind once to die, do make, constitute, and order this to be my last will and testament in manner form following- I desire my body may be decently buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my executors hereafter named. And as touching my worldly estate which God Almighty hath been pleased to bless me with, I do will and desire that it be disposed as follows- First I will and bequeath the land whereon I now live to my wife Jemima HASKET the use and all the benefits and advantages arising from the said land during her natural life, and I likewise will and bequeath unto (?) all my personal property of every denomination both within and without doors, to be disposed of at her discretion. I also will that the said land- after the death of my wife, to fall to my daughter Orpha SCARLET and all my personal property after the death of my wife to fall to (?) her also, only reserving as much of said property as will pay to as many of my other children as may then be living the sum of five shilling, sterling viz: to MARY, JOHN, JEMIMA, and RUTH, and I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved friends, Thomas HINSHAW and George LEWELIN (sic) executors to this my last will and testament, revoking and disanulling (sic) by these presence all other wills by me heretofore made and finally ratifying and confirming this to be my last will and testament on witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventeenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen.

Abraham HASKETT and Jemima LACY had the following children:

child 35 v. Orphelia HASKETT was born in Randolph Co., NC 1775.(884) Orphelia died in Randolph Co., NC.(885) She married John SCARLET in Randolph Co., NC, 1793.(886) John was born in NC ABT 1771.(887) (See John SCARLET for the continuation of this line.)

Orphelia was the previous owner of John SCARLET's land, whose sale of mineral rights was recorded 7 MAR 1855 in Randolph Co., NC.(888) "Stephen Scarlett and Abraham Scarlett" Deed to Sam N. Fain and others Registered March 7th 1855

This indenture and agreement made and entered into this, the 6th day of March in the year of our Lord, One Thousand eight hundred and fifty five by and between Stephen SCARLETT and Abraham SCARLETT of the one part, and Samuel N. Fain, James P. Swann, and William W. Dean of the other part, all of Jefferson Co., Tennessee. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of having the mineral and ores in the hand hereinafter tested and developed and for and in consideration of the trouble and expenses of having the title to the lands herein mentioned and researched, settled and gaining possession thereof, the said Stephen SCARLETT and Abraham SCARLETT have and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey unto the said Samuel N. Fain, James P. Swann and William W. Dean, their heirs and assigns forever, a joint and several interest and right and title with the said Scarletts of in and to all of the ores and minerals and substances on or in the lands lying and being in the County of Randolph in the State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of John SCARLETT and others and being the same lands of which Abraham HASKET died ------- and possessed and which he willed by his will dated the 17th day of December 1817 to his wife Jemima HASKET during her life time and after her death to Orphelia SCARLETT, and for a particular description of said lands referenced (sic) is hereby made to the title papers of said Abraham HASKET now of record in the proper offices in said County of Randolph and in the said State of North Carolina. The said SCARLETTS hereby also grant unto the said Fain, Swann, and Dean a joint and several interest, right, and privilege, and a right and privilege in common to enter upon said lands and search and take the ores and mineral substances therefrom and also the right to take and use for all mining or ------------- purposes; all necessary wood off of said lands and timber therefrom to have and to hold the said right to all of said ore or mineral substances and the other right and privileges herein before mentioned unto the said Samuel N. Fain, James P. Swann, and William W. Dean, their heirs and assigns will and do warrant and do forever defend the rights and titles and privileges herein before sold and granted against all titles or claims and covenant with the said Fain, Swann, and Dean that they have a good right and title to said land, and a right to make this conveyance in testimony whereof the said SCARLETTS have here unto set their hands and seals this 6th day of March 1855.
