John Hutchinson to John Compton
State of South Carolina

Know all men by these presents that I John Hutchinson of the state and district aforesaid in
consideration of One Hundred and Sixty dollars to me paid by John Compton of state and
district aforesaid have granted bargained sold and released and by these presents do
grant bargain sell and release unto the said Compton all that plantation or tract of land
containing fifty three acres, more or less, on the waters of Duncan's Creek in the district
aforesaid bounded by lands of James Hunter, James Park and Thos Drenner(?) together
with all and singular the rights, members, hereditaments, appurtenances to the same
belonging, or in any wise incident or appertaining. To have and to hold all and singular the
above mentioned tract, the said Compton his heirs and assigns forever, and I do hereby
bind myself my heirs, executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and
singular, the said premises unto the said Compton his heirs and assigns against myself,
my heirs and every person whosoever lawfully claiming, or claims, the same or any part
thereof. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this Twenty third day of January
eighteen hundred and sixteen.

Personally came James Park Jun. Before me, William Cowan,
J.P., and being duly sworn as the law directs, and saith that he saw
the within mentioned John Hutchinson assign seal and deliver the
within deed for the purposes within mentioned and he further saith
upon that he saw James Hutchinson assign the same with himself
as a subscribing (witness). Sworn to and subscribed before me
this 5th day of February 1816.
