Herrick Bromley Jr. and May Isedore (Lunsford) Bromley
(My paternal grandmother's parents)

My great-grandfather Herrick Bromley was married twice. He fathered eight children by his first wife Mary Ellen Devore, who (according to my grandmother) died during a covered-wagon trip. Herrick then married May Lunsford, my great-grandmother (who appears on the far right of the accompanying photo), and the two of them had ten children together, among whom was my grandmother Minnie (Bromley) Williams. I think the word is "prolific." Herrick, by the way, fathered his last child - my great-uncle Ted Bromley - at the age of seventy-six; he died two years later.
The photo above, taken sometime in the early 1940s, shows four generations: (from left to right) my brother Leonard Williams, my father Floyd Williams, my grandmother Minnie Williams, and her mother May Bromley, who was probably in her early eighties at the time.
My aunt Louise has painted a lovely representation of the homestead of Herrick and May Bromley in the late nineteenth century, which you can see by clicking here.
