Julia (Lecewski) McCann Hansen Carli
(My maternal great-aunt)

My great-aunt Julia, younger sister of my grandmother and my great-aunt Estelle, was married three times, but left only one child: a daughter, my first cousin (once removed in the ascendancy) Irene (McCann) Hay, whom you can see in the photograph below (left to right: Julia, Irene, Estelle's husband Frank Stasiak, and his son Alfred). My sister Darlene insists that she looks like Julia, by the way, and I suppose she does.

Julia had a funny sense of humor. The classic Julia story is the one about the time she took a gun and a folding chair out onto the beach and sat down to wait. When asked what she was doing, she said she was waiting for the geoducks to fly over so she could shoot one. Now, unless you're from the Pacific Northwest, that story will be completely meaningless to you, but take it from me, it's hysterical.
