Christmas Without Kere

Our Christmas tree is not as tall,
And packages aren't wall to wall.
What used to be my favorite season,
Is now less joyous, I know the reason.

For three years now, it's been hard to be merry,
Christmas just isn't. . . without Kere.
She looked forward to Santa more than most,
She created the excitement, an outrageous host!

It was her favorite holiday, with all of it's cheer,
Smells from the kitchen, her singing you'd hear.
Setting the table, she'd say, "Help yourselves",
And believe me, she knew there was Santa and elves!

While everyone was eating and returning for more,
She'd be under the tree, right on the floor.
For twenty years, it was a big thing you see
To sort all the packages, by the names A to Z.

No, Christmas isn't near what it used to be,
Without Kere sitting right there beside me.
Saying, "Oh look Mom!" or "Isn't it cute?"
KERE WAS CHRISTMAS, she was a real hoot!
