My Highland Scots ancestors John STEWART (b abt 1699) of Borenich
(related to the Dunlanich Stewarts)
and his wife Christian (nee STEWART) were married Nov 21 1721 in Dull Perth.

John & Christian were the parents of Alexander STEWART
who was christened Nov 4 1722 in Bailintepail Blair Atholl.

Alexander STEWART married Christian STEWART
on Mar 24 1740 in Balchastle Blair Atholl
and they were the parents of 5 children,
all christened in CROFT CARNOCH in the mid 1700s,
around the time of the JACOBITE Rebellion.

I am descended from their son John STEWART chr Apr 1st 1750 in Croft Carnoch/Carnick.
John married Christian DOUGLAS on Nov 26 1776 in Lick Lodge Dull.

CROFTCARNOCH was situated just to the north of Loch Tummel

in the parish of Blair Atholl (shown below in 1783 Stobies Map)

Their son James STEWART chr Oct 7 1787 in Blair Atholl,
married 1st to Elizabeth STEWART in Ontario Canada and had 5 children.
(Elizabeth's parents were John STEWART & Margaret LAMOND)

James emigrated to Canada in July 1818 & Elizabeth had moved there with her family in 1817.
Elizabeth Stewart died in 1841.

James STEWART & his 2nd wife, Janet McGREGOR
were married abt 1847-48 in Ontario Canada.

They had only 2 daughters ~
*JANET born in 1849
Mary born in 1851

James died in 1865 in Esquesing Township Halton Ontario.
(View James' Last Will & Testament)
His widow, Janet McGregor STEWART died in 1890.
They are both buried in the Boston Presbyterian Cemetary in Esquesing.

Janet STEWART married Dougald McKECHNIE (b abt 1843 in Ontario)

about 1867, the Centennial Year of Canada's birth,
and their eldest child,
James Stewart McKECHNIE b 1869 was my grandfather.

James Stewart McKECHNIE married Arabella May JAMIESON,
