Lord Mickey of Pekehaven went to the Rainbow Bridge on March 9, 2002, at the age of eleven. He was born in Coal Hill, Arkansas, and we purchased him as a six week old puppy, along with his sister, Amber. He was a Christmas gift and he was always "mama's boy." He was sable colored and had large expressive brown eyes. His nickname was "Eyes" because he could melt the hardest heart with that "look." He was never a fighter...he was always gentle and friendly.

The heartache is still so fresh that "mom" has trouble writing about Mickey. He developed CHF and died two days later, a totally unexpected departure. The vet could not save him, although he tried.

An early memory of Mickey is a craft show we attended when he was just a puppy. He was being taught to "lead" and he charmed everyone there. Everyone wanted to pet the beautiful red Peke puppy as he went for walks with Mom from our motor home.

The picture below was made on March 7, two days before Mickey died. He did not feel good and probably did not want to be photographed although, in better days, he loved having his picture made.
