CENSUS: 1840. Ellisburg, Jefferson Co., NY. Charles A. Farr heads a household comprising 1 male age 0-4; 1 male age 10-14; 1 male age 30-39; 1 female age 15-19; 1 female age 30-39. Presumably the eldest male and female are Charles and his wife.
Doug Farr has sent me a document (according to Doug, originated by Doris and Bruce Rickmyer) identifying the following Wisconsin family with the family of Charles A. Farr, son of Jeremiah Farr and Katherine Belden. The census is consistent with this identification, but does not offer any definitive proof. Presumably other information was available to Doug and/or the Rickmyer's in making the identification.

I cannot find any member of this family in the 1860 census. Doug Farr's document identifies the following New York family from the 1870 census as that of Harvey Farr, son of Charles A. and Abigal Farr. Again, the census is consistent with this identification, but does not offer any proof.

Styled Samuel Farr the Third on the old tax-lists. He settled in the western part of the town, on the farm now owned by Larkin D. Farr. In 1800, he and Ezekiel Hildreth obtained a charter for a ferry across' the Connecticut, now known as the upper, or Gilson's, ferry.
