![]() Conversations With God Our mind-set toward a conversation with God is affected by these things: 1. Our attitude toward God 2. Our understanding about God 3. Our prior relationship with God Sometimes we hear certain things from "God" and at times we don't hear others things. At times have you ever told something to someone and they didn't understand, even if you said it many different ways. It is like that person had a blockage. It is the same thing in prayer. If we don't have a relationship with "God" , we will not hear what the Lord our God wants to say to us. This is our fault, not His. This is to help you realize the blocks that are built up in your spirit. These blocks could be from rebellion towards God, unexplained circumstances, or even bad teaching. This is to help you understand also the blocks that you are putting in your way. Ask God to dissolve these blocks and open yourself to his healing. Also ask God to give you ears to hear what He is trying to tell you. ****Our History With God**** We all have a history with God. He has ordained us to be on earth, and also has a plan and a purpose for us, even if we have not recognized it. Only until a person has received Jesus into their heart will that person hear what God is trying to say. This is when we are born again. We leave the darkness and are placed in the kingdom of light. We become children of God and then our salvation experience is the beginning of a two - way relationship with God which is so very beautiful. Then there is a second step which is that we move on from salvation into identification with "Jesus Christ". He is then our Lord. The Apostle Paul taught, "It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me" (Gal. 2: 20) This means that your fleshly life was crucified, and that your sins are nailed to the cross. Also you were buried and raised to a newness of life that will be unending. When you accept "Faith" sin's power over us has been broken by Jesus and then we are free to walk in the spirit and then become the person that God wants you to be. You always live as Jesus would live and we trust Him to empower us and enable us to do so. If you seek Jesus continually, you will listen to God's counsel about how you can be more like Him. He will speak to you about sins we need to confess, relationships we need to make right, new behaviors and opinions we need to adopt, new activities we need to pursue and new blessings that is ours for the accepting. ****How We Can Understand God**** Demanding Or Loving Father? Do you come before God expecting Him to embrace you warmly, love you unconditionally, or accept you or do you expect Him to reject, ridicule, or acknowledge you as a child. You see the Bible tells us that God's nature is love. God sent his only Son that whoever believes in Him might have eternal life. Look up all the verses that relate to God's loving nature. Do this if you are struggling in perceiving God as a loving God. ****Distant Friend Or A Distant Friend**** Do you come to God trusting Him that he will understand you and not reject you? Or do you expect God to take a seat in the corner. The Bible says that Jesus said to His followers that they were His friends, not His servants. (John 15: 15) Read the gospels and observe how Jesus lived so closely in relationship with people that followed Him. ****Is God A Patient Or Intolerant Teacher**** Do you expect God to teach you ther errors of your ways or do you expect Him to drop you from life's course and suspend you from His school? He is not a critical Teacher who does not harp on your lack of spiritual understanding nor does he continually punish you for each little mistake or failure. God is very patient, loving, and a kind Teacher. He will try to get you towards Himself and toward righteousness. Read what Jesus said. You will find good reasons why His followers called Him "Teacher" or "Rabbi". ****Is He A Angry Or Gentle Guide**** Do you find that God is one who disciplines you so that you will get back on track or One who punishes you in a fit of anger? When people have been abused by their parents only see Him as being harsh, extreme in His discipline or unreasonable. His chastisements and rules is to guide us in the way. Just think about it. If a guide gave you certain rules on a hike so that your very survival and return to safety is in question and you did not listen and took the wrong path, wandered away from the group, you surely would expect that guide to correct you real quick. This is the same with God as our Guide. He surely wants us to stay on His trail and use our gear and resources wisely. He wants us to stay with believers. This is so that we might come into the full ness of His Kingdom. ****Is God Insensitive Or Understanding**** Do you feel that when you come to God that he understands your concerns or do you think of Him of not caring about your emotions, desires or temptations? Jesus does care about all aspects of our lives. He understands our feelings, how hard life is and He also knows that we can overcome all temptations. He knows that we can live a righteous and pure life. The Holy Spirit helps us to reach a place of greater wholeness and health. He also gives us the inner strength to bind up our wounds, give us wholeness and give us strength to move forward in our lives. There are many references in the concordance for "Compassion and Mercy". Read Psalm 103: 8 which says: "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in mercy." ****Is God A Reluctant Or Generous Provider**** Do you see God as a stingy God or do you see Him as delighting in you by generously pouring out on your life all the riches of His glory? God wants to give us many resources. Read the story of the prodigal son. God is willing to bless His children with wonderful things. (Luke 6: 38) This verse assures you and me that God causes blessings to come into our lives in "good measure pressed down, shaken together and running over". God did provide for the Israelites in the wilderness. Our God is a generous God. ****Is God Inconsistant Or Faithful**** Do you question God in your hour of need or do you come before Him with a knowing in your heart that God is very trustworthy and reliable? God is surely on our team. He will never abandon us and for sure we can always count on Him. (Read: Lamentations 3: 22 - 23) Look up the words lovingkindness, faithfulness or faithful in your concordance. Read in the Bible that God is the same yesterday, today and also tomorrow. ****What Our Attitude Should Be Towards "God"**** 1. We must be submissive God is the creator and He created us. We need to recognize that we are approaching God as if we are certain of our success and sure of our decision-making abilities. 2. We must trust Him We have to trust God in order to listen to the details He gives us about how to obey Him. We must be really convinced that God is going to lead us in the right direction and that He will enable us to be and to do all that He has challenged us to be and to do. 3. We must come before Him with a thankful heart The Scriptures says that we must come to Him with thanksgiving. When a person looks back in their life and count all of the ways God has been good to you -- this is when you must recognize that God is for us. Geo Button By:"Diana's Little Creations" ![]() ![]()
