Heartland Carnival has adopted a list of Guidelines for content of pages and sites that are listed in the Categories. We want to be sure that every site will be absolutely Family Safe for all genders and all ages.

 

 Requirements for listing your site with Heartland Carnival

Your site must comply with the Yahoo!GeoCities Terms of Service. If you are not sure what these are, they can be found at
http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/geoterms.html

You should have no "broken links". All of your links should work. Please check all of them before applying. This will be one of the things that your pages will be checked for by our Carnies when you apply to list your site.

All of your images should load. "Broken images" detract from the over-all look of your page. Check these carefully. If you think you may have a problem, ask a friend or your Community Leader to help you be sure that all of your images show.

Please be sure that your site or at least the page you are listing fits the category that you applied to have your listing on. Your site will be checked to be sure that there is a page that fits where you want to be listed.
You also need to list that specific page so that it can be easily found.

We know that GeoCities has instituted the Pages That Pay program, but Carnival cannot list these pages. The responsibility for advertising and promoting your pages is yours. Carnival is for fun and interesting sites and not for advertising.

"Carnival has established a few additional guidelines for listing sites. These were created to make sure the sites remain safe for children to surf. "

Your site will not be listed with Carnival if it contains any of the following:
* Profanity, any vulgar language or even the suggestion of inappropriate language or graphics on your home page or site, in your membername, or directory listing.
* Images of semi-clothed or unclad people or any other materials inappropriate for children to view.
* Links to any content not allowed by the Yahoo!GeoCities TOS (terms of service) or that is inappropriate for children.

These rules may sound restrictive, but we have sites that children want to view. We do not want any children to find sites in Carnival that are not appropriate for them to view or participate in the activities of these sites. Your co-operation in verifying that your site meets these guidelines BEFORE applying to Carnival will be greatly appreciated.
