Chris' Favorite Sites

CATEGORIES

I hate to tell you this, but with all these links, I still haven't cleaned out my bookmark file or my AOL favorites! There is more coming as I get the chance to update these pages.

  • Animals and Zoos - Links to pages about specific animals and to zoos and wildlife preserves. There are two really KEWL sites from Africa which use web cams to bring you on a safari to learn about jungle animals.
  • Astronomy & Space Exploration - This site includes links to sites about planets, constellations, stars, and life outside our world. There is also a list of Cams. Cams are sites that bring you up-to-the-minute pictures by using satellite dishes to transmit the images to the Web.
  • Biographies - Most of the links are to men and women who were involved in the founding of our country, the American Revolutionary War, and the Civil War. There are many more links to be added.
  • Geography - These are some of the links I've found that explain the different land forms and climates. This list could use some more sites that are kid friendly.
  • Government Sites for Kids - The agencies of the United States government create pages designed just for kids to learn more about what the agencies do.
  • History is my favorite subject. These links are basically about American History, but there are a few world history links.
  • Homework Help links are available through most school sites. I have picked the ones I think are the very best. These sites are there to help students with their homework. Some of these sites are REALLY worth seeing, even if you don't have homework.
  • Language/Reading - This page is divided up into several parts: Grammar, Reading and Vocabulary Words. I come from a family who loves to read. My Dad is king when it comes to playing on words. This page will grow and grow.
  • Math - The links on the Math page include a lot of interactive sites where you can actually do drills in your weak areas.
  • Miscellaneous - If I didn't know what to do with a site, or if I didn't have enough links to one subject, it goes on this page. You might want to check it out and see if there is some information you need!
  • Native American - Sites about the "First Americans" are here. I will add more as I learn about my Kickapoo background.
  • Research is different from Homework Help, because you have to go out to these sites and find the topic yourself. The Homework Help pages are sometimes easier. I use these links to find information that I can't find on the Homework Help pages.
  • Science - Science sites and sites to help you with science projects. Looking at other kids' science projects can give you some good ideas and help you with some of your research.
  • Search Engines - This is a page full of Search Engines with some tips about how to find information on the Web.
  • Time to Relax - It is hard to digest a lot of information in a short time. So take a break every once and a while and check out some of these sites! Some of them are so addicting, it is hard to get back to your project.
  • Weather - I am just starting to get interested in weather patterns, so there aren't too many links here. If anyone knows where there are kids' sites about weather, please let me know.
  • Workout for Brain - These links are for times when you want to work your brain a little bit more than just reading. There are lots of the sites where you will need your upper level thinking skills, so these aren't places to go if you are tired or worn out. The more you work with your reasoning, the better you get at it!

 IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!

I try my best to make sure the links I put on my pages are Kid Safe, but I can't always be sure. I can't be responsible for the content of pages that aren't my own links. If you keep taking links, sooner or later you will end up somewhere that you don't belong.

When you take a link from one of my pages, a new browser will open up. When you finish with that page, just click on the "X" on the upper right hand corner, and you will be back on my pages, which are all kid safe!

If you find a link from one of my pages that you don't think is appropriate, please email me so my parents and I can look at it.

  • If you are a kid, be sure your parents know where you are going on the Web.
  • If you are a parent, stay near your child and become apart of the surfing.
  • You would be surprised what kind of sites you can find yourself led to without even trying.
  • REMEMBER: When taking links from my pages and continuing to link from others, you are at risk of ending up on a site that has nothing to do with your project or assignment.

BE SAFE!!!

Safety on the Internet

A Newsletter for Parents About Net Safety

~~~
Whenever you are on the Net it is very, very important to use good safety guidelines.
  • Don't give anyone your password even if they say they are with your Internet Service Provider (ISP, like AOL). These companies never ever ask you for that information.
  • Never give your full name, your address or your telephone number out to anyone. You shouldn't even give out your city location. I live in NW Indiana - tells people about my geographical location without giving out specific information.
  • When you don't know for sure, always ask your parents!
