Mrs. Mary Emma Souder - Aug 2, 1954

     Mrs. Mary Emma Souder, well known resident of Damascus and widow of Philip B. Souder, died early Sunday at a convalescent home in Olney, aged 89 years.  A native of Damascus, she was a daughter of the late Nathan B. and Rhoda Etchison Warthen.  She was a member of Damascus Methodist Church and the WSCS of that church.
     Surviving are these sons and daughters:  W. Lansdale Souder, near Damascus; Mrs. Herbert Hyatt, P. Ray Souder, both of Damascus; Mrs. Della S. Harris, Washington, and Earl M. Souder.  Seventeen grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren also survive.

Earl M. Souder - 24 July 1965

     Earl M. Souder, 64, of Damascus died Saturday at an area hospital.
     He was born in Damascus, a son of the late Philip B. and Mary Emma Warthen Souder.
     He leaves a sister, Mrs. Beulah Hyatt; and two brothers, W. Lansdale Souder and P. Ray Souder, all of Damascus.

P. Ray Souder - 12 July 1971

     P. Ray Souder, 80, lifelong resident of Damascus and husband of the late Violet S. Souder, died Monday at the Brooke Grove Foundation in Olney.
     He was born in Damascus, a son of the late Philip B. and Mary Emma Warthen Souder.
     Mr. Souder was a building contractor in the area for 50 years, a member of the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 371.
     Surviving are two children, Mrs. M. Louise Pope and Walter R. Souder, both of Damascus; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Violet S. Souder - 3/30/1965

     Mrs. Violet S. Souder, 73, of Damascus, died Sunday at her home.  She was the wife of P. Ray Souder.
     Mrs. Souder was born near Damascus.  She was a daughter of the late John and Summerville King Beall, and was a member of the Damascus Methodist Church and its W.S.C.S.
     Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Walter R. Souder and a daughter, Mrs. Earl Pope both of Damascus; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

W. Lansdale Souder - 21 Apr 1968

     W. Lansdale Souder, 82, died at his home Sunday in Damascus.
     He was born in Damascus, a son of the late Philip B. and Mary Emma Warthen Souder.  He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Montgomery Methodist Church of Clagettsville.
     He is survived by his wife, Cora Boyer Souder; four daughters, Mrs. Evelyn S. Allnutt of Poolesville, Mrs. Mary Norris of Mt. Airy, Mrs. Eleanor D. Gosnell of Madeira Beach, Fla., and Miss Hazel E. Souder at home; two sons, Willard L. Souder of Rockville and Philip B. Souder of Mt. Airy; one brother, P. Ray Souder of Damascus; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Willard Lansdale Souder Jr - Sep1974

     Mr. Willard Lansdale Souder Jr., 66, husband of the late Delores Pomeroy Souder died on Friday, Sept. 6 at his home in Rockville.
     He was born in Damascus, a son of Mrs. Cora Boyer Souder and the late Willard Lansdale Souder Sr.
     He was a retired accountant with the Montgomery County Liquor Control Board, was a life-long member of Damascus United Methodist Church, member of the Damascus Travel Club, was a veteran of World War II and a member of Damascus Post No. 171, American Legion.
     Surviving besides his mother are four sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Allnutt, Poolesville, Mrs. Mary S. Norris, Mt. Airy, Mrs. Eleanor Gosnell, Maderia Beach, Fla., Miss Hazel Souder, Damascus and one brother, Philip B. Souder, Ellicott City.

Mrs. Mabel D. Souder - 27 July 1972

     Mrs. Mabel Dolores Souder, wife of Willard Souder, formerly of Frederick and who has lived at 510 Beall Avenue, Rockville, died suddenly at her residence Thursday afternoon.  She was born in Frederick on October 6, 1916, the daughter of the late Marion Franklin and Ida Gertrude Sonner Pomroy and was the last of her immediate family.  Mrs. Souder's mother predeceased her on April 12, 1971.
     Surviving her besides her husband are several cousins.
     The family will receive friends at the Smith, Fadeley, Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, (formerly Etchison's), 106 East Church Street . . . . . .  The Rev. Francis Reinberger, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate.  Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.


Mrs. Sallie L. Souder - died 13 Mar 1966

     Mrs. Sallie L. Souder, 79, widow of Archie W. Souder, died yesterday at her home in Damascus.
     Mrs. Souder was born near Damascus,  daughter of the late Columbus F. and Amanda Warfield Purdum.  She leaves five daughters, Mrs. Irvin L. Goe, Mrs. Roger W. Burdette, Mrs. Clark F. King, Mrs. M. McKendree Boyer and Mrs Hubert E. Snapp, all of Damascus; and a sister, Mrs. Ardeen Clough of Seaford, Del.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Charles W. Souder - Aug 15, 1952

     Charles William Souder, 92, died Wednesday at his home in Damascus.
     He was the husband of the late Mrs. Sallie Souder and for several years he had been a member of the Damascus Methodist Church.
     Surviving are two half sisters.  Mrs. Annie Witik, Bergton, Va.,; Mrs. Liza Dove, Hedgesville, W.Va. and a half brother Levi Souder, Bergton, Va.

Mrs. Pamma F. Souder - Date ??? maybe 1954

     Mrs. Pamma Fulke Souder of Gaithersburg, wife of the late William H. Souder, died at her late home, 10 Cedar Avenue, Saturday.  Survivors include the following children:  Mrs. William Barnsley, Orlando, Florida; Mrs. Roy Fahrney, Arlington Md., Mrs. Carroll Bur?uss and Miss Letty Souder, Gaithersburg.  Also, the following sisters, Mrs. Thomas Helbert, Broadway, Va., and Mrs. Sherwood Duvall, Damascus.  Funeral services in Gaithersburg . . . with interment in Forest Oak Cemetery.

John H. Souder - Aug 22, 1955

     John H. Souder, 80, for 25 years an employee of the John H. Small and Son Nurseries at Norbeck died at his home at Derwood on Saturday.  He had been in failing health for two years.
     Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Celia C. Souder, and the following children:  Mrs. Ivy Willcox, Washington; Mrs. Mae Dove, Derwood; Mrs. Shirley Loomis, Virginia; Mrs. Thelma Mull, Mrs. Edith Falk, Virgil Souder, Derwood; Armin Souder, Brookeville; Byron Souder, Bethesda; Wayne, Paul and Warren Souder all of Derwood.  Also 22 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a brother Charles Souder, Mathas W. Va.
     Friends may call at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Redlands.

     Mrs. Francelia C. Souder, aged 95, of Bowie Mill Road, Derwood, died Thursday Dec 6 at Montgomery General Hospital.  She was the wife of the late John H. Souder.
     Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. May A. Dove of Derwood, Mrs. Shirley Loomis of Sterling, Va., Mrs. Thelma Mullineaux of Derwood, and Mrs. Edith Falk of Washington, D.C.; six sons, Virgil B. Souder of Derwood, Armin M. Souder of Derwood, Bryon H. Souder of Bethesda, Wayne B. Souder of Derwood, Paul S. Souder of Wheaton, and Warren G. Souder of Kansas; 24 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

     Mr. Clinton R. Souder died Wednesday at his residence, 5214 Marlyn Drive, Bethesda.  He was the husband of the late Thelma A. Souder.
     Surviving are three children:  Clinton R. Souder Jr., James W. Souder and Mrs. Sarah M. Walling; and 14 grandchildren.

Mrs. Emma Frances Souder - Date ?? maybe 75

     Mrs. Emma Frances Souder, 50, of Old Frederick Road, Woodbine, wife of Lyman L. Souder Jr, died at her home Wednesday, Nov. 26.  She was born in Winchester, Va., and the daughter of the late, Robert J. and Virgie Sherman.
     Survivors, besides her husband, are sons, Edward L. Souder and Lyman W. Souder, both of home, Wilbur A. Souder of Laurel, Md., daughters, Mrs. Rosella M. Ridgely of Eldersburg, Md., and Brenda L. Souder, at home; and son Donald C. Souder in the U.S. Army, also, sisters, Mrs. Joan Wines of Jessup, Md., Mrs. Irene Clark of Odenton, Md., and Mrs. Kenney of Savage, Md., Mrs. Marie Lineberry of North Carolina, and two brothers, James Sherman and John Sherman, both of Jessup.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren.
     Friends may call at the Waltz-Burrier Funeral Home, Liberty Road in Winfield .. . .  The Rev. Donald M. Smith, pastor of the Morgan Chapel United Methodist Church, will officiate.  Interment will be made in Crest Lawn Cemetery in Howard County.

George Henry Souder - Aug 10, 1959

     George Henry Souder, 30-A East Fourth Street, died suddenly while attending a picnic near New Midway Sunday afternoon about 5 o'clock, aged 63 years.
    He was a son of the late George C. and Charlotte H. Grimes Souder and a member of Grace United Church of Christ, John R. Webb Post 3285 V.F.W., Independent Hose company No. 1 and the Frederick County Fish and Game Association.
     Mr. Souder was a veteran of World War I and had been employed by the former Blue Ridge Lines as a bus driver for 22 years and later was ticket agent for the company for eight years, having retired from the Potomac Edison Company in 1956.
     Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. M. Helen Harper Souder, one brother, Clinton Souder, Washington.  Nieces and several nephews also survive.  (Rest of article is cut off.)

     John Nevin Souder Jr, 46, son of the late John N. and Mrs. Fannie Ca??? Souder, near Brunswick died Wednesday morning of a heart attack at his home near Upper Marlboro.  He was a member of the First Evangelical and Reformed Church of Brunswick.
     Surviving are his mother, his wife, Mrs. Grace Thrasher Souder; two children, John N. III and William David Souder at home; these brothers and sisters, Thomas Woodrow Souder, Knoxville; Mrs. Mary Bussard, Jefferson, and Mrs. Emogean Wenner, Knoxville.
     Rev N. F. Fravel and Rev. Mr. Arnold officiating.  Interment will be in Jefferson Reformed Cemetery.  C. M. F/Peete and Bro., funeral directors.

Mrs. Margaret H. Souder - 30 Jan 1968

     Mrs. Margaret Hood Souder, 54, of Mt. Airy died Tuesday morning in Frederick Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Carroll County, a daughter of Mrs. Celia and the late Jesse Hood.
     Besides her mother she is survived by her husband, Philip B. Souder; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Byers and Mrs. Calvin Baker, both of Mt. Airy.  Friends may call at the Waltz Funeral Home, Liberty Road in Winfield . . .
     The Rev John J. Dawson of Calvary Methodist Church in Mt. Airy will officiate.  Burial in Taylorsville Cemetery.

     Roy M. Souder, formerly of Frederick county died at Hartford, Conn., Wednesday.  He was a son of the late Rev John M. and Sue Buckey Souder and a member of the Reformed church.  Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Edith Turnbough Souder.

     Mrs. Edith Turnbaugh Souder, widow of Roy M. Souder, 56 Willard Street, Hartford Conn., died there Friday evening, aged 68 years.
     She was a daughter of the late David and Priscilla Marks Turnbaugh.  Her husband predeceased her, August 29, 1956.
     Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. W. C. Nystrom, Cleveland and Mrs. L. Pearl Anderson, Hartford.
