Mrs. Mary Emma Souder, well known resident
of Damascus and widow of Philip B. Souder, died early Sunday at a convalescent
home in Olney, aged 89 years. A native of Damascus, she was a daughter
of the late Nathan B. and Rhoda Etchison Warthen. She was a member
of Damascus Methodist Church and the WSCS of that church.
Surviving are these sons and daughters:
W. Lansdale Souder, near Damascus; Mrs. Herbert
Hyatt, P. Ray Souder, both of Damascus; Mrs. Della
S. Harris, Washington, and Earl M. Souder.
Seventeen grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren also survive.

Monday at the Brooke Grove Foundation in Olney.
He was born in Damascus, a son of the late
Philip B. and Mary Emma Warthen Souder.
Mr. Souder was a building contractor in the
area for 50 years, a member of the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department,
and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 371.
Surviving are two children, Mrs. M. Louise
Pope and Walter R. Souder, both of Damascus; seven grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.

a member of the Damascus Methodist Church and its W.S.C.S.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Walter
R. Souder and a daughter, Mrs. Earl Pope both of Damascus; seven grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.

He was born in Damascus, a son of Mrs. Cora
Boyer Souder and the late Willard Lansdale Souder Sr.
He was a retired accountant with the Montgomery
County Liquor Control Board, was a life-long member of Damascus United
Methodist Church, member of the Damascus Travel Club, was a veteran of
World War II and a member of Damascus Post No. 171, American Legion.
Surviving besides his mother are four sisters,
Mrs. Evelyn Allnutt, Poolesville, Mrs. Mary S. Norris, Mt. Airy, Mrs. Eleanor
Gosnell, Maderia Beach, Fla., Miss Hazel Souder, Damascus and one brother,

Mrs. Mabel Dolores Souder, wife of Willard
Souder, formerly of Frederick and who has lived at 510 Beall Avenue,
Rockville, died suddenly at her residence Thursday afternoon. She
was born in Frederick on October 6, 1916, the daughter of the late Marion
Franklin and Ida Gertrude Sonner Pomroy and was the last of her immediate
family. Mrs. Souder's mother predeceased her on April 12, 1971.
Surviving her besides her husband are several
cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Smith,
Fadeley, Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, (formerly Etchison's), 106 East

Clark F. King, Mrs. M. McKendree Boyer and Mrs Hubert E. Snapp, all of

George Henry Souder, 30-A East Fourth Street,
died suddenly while attending a picnic near New Midway Sunday afternoon
about 5 o'clock, aged 63 years.
He was a son of the late George C. and Charlotte
H. Grimes Souder and a member of Grace United Church of Christ, John R.
Webb Post 3285 V.F.W., Independent Hose company No. 1 and the Frederick
County Fish and Game Association.
Mr. Souder was a veteran of World War I and
had been employed by the former Blue Ridge Lines as a bus driver for 22
years and later was ticket agent for the company for eight years, having
retired from the Potomac Edison Company in 1956.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. M. Helen
Harper Souder, one brother, Clinton Souder, Washington. Nieces and
