IF YOU HAD A YAHOO WEBWRING PRIOR 15th OCTOBER, 2001 YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE THE FOLLOWING PRELIMINARY STEPS:-
1. Click “Join Now” and you will be taken to the ring homepage
a. Click on "Webring Home" and you will be taken to the WebRing Home page, select the box which reads “If you joined The original WebRing or Yahoo! WebRing before October 15, 2001, “Go here to migrate to the new WebRing
b. If this section applies to your case click on “Go here to migrate to New Webring” this will take you to a page which starts with the following welcome message :
“Welcome! Your information has been transferred to the new WebRing system and is ready for you to COMPLETE the transfer. You Are NOT done yet.”
For reference, in case you are stuck here or GET stuck here, you are logged in to Yahoo id (your id code will be listed here), and your transfer file is (allocated number). Jot it down to give to webring support if you cannot proceed. But you CAN proceed, so do so! The next page will continue the process.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO WEBRING SINCE 15th OCTOBER, 2001
Click “Join Now” and you will be taken to the ring homepage
Click“Get Started" and you will be taken to a page with the sub-heading "Join the Ring" you are now required to fill out an application form.(be particularly careful that you fill out the URL for the page on which you intend to place your webring)

or Click on Cancel to cancel application
If you selected NEXT you can review your application and if happy press SUBMIT and you will be taken to addsite where you will receive the following confirmation message:
Confirmation - Ring Application Sent
You will receive an email notifying you whether the RingMaster has approved or denied your application.
If your application is approved, the email will contain instructions on how to put the Ring's navigation bar on the page you specified.
You will now receive the following e-mail letter:
Congratulations,
You have submitted your site to the Ring titled "Genealogical Research and Resources." The information you submitted is:
Site Title: Your Title appears here
Site URL: The URL where you should paste your navigational bar appears here
WebRing ID: Your ID appears here
Site ID: Your Site ID appears here
The RingMaster has been notified of your request to join the Ring and will notify you of their decision and what actions, if any, to take next.
Meanwhile, you should "manage your site information" and the RingMaster may have special requests, like placing navigation code on your site before being approved. To get the navigation code and to view/edit your site information Click Here:

From the above selection choose "Get Navigational Code"
this will take you to http://p.webring.com/wrman?ring=genealogicalres2&id=70&yid=doug_33_2000&page=mgmt_ShowNavBar&shownavbar
Cut and paste HTML code to appropriate page and return “Edit Site Information.
Check your information and click on “Test” this will tell you if your setup was correct or not.
If Test “passes you will find that when approved by the ringmaster the ring will appear on your nominated page. If Test “fails”, please reinstall navigational code and save ( with some programs the ring will not show until approved, i.e preview or view page may result in nothing being seen on the page, therefore save and await approval)
In the particular case of the Genealogical Research and Resources you are required to have your navigational bar in place before your site is approved
Editing or deleting a Webring
In some instances you may wish to change the page on which your webring is to be placed, this being the case you will need to edit your site and update the new URL ( please test your site again to ensure your setup “Passes” – ref earlier instructions.Go to webring and click on “Hub” which will take you to http://p.webring.com/hub?ring=genealogicalres2&id=1&hub
Along the top of the page you will note a series of selections i.e
Webring Home - Account Info - Help - My Rings - Sign Out
From this list select “My Rings” which will take you to http://f.webring.com/mbr?p=ms when you are in this page select from the “Members Tools” View Ring Sites which in turn will take you to a list of your webrings at http://f.webring.com/mbr?p=ms
This page will a box labelled Your Ring Sites with three sub headings as follows:
Ring Title Site Title (Click to edit) Status/Options
From these sub headings select “Site Title” which will take you to http://p.webring.com/wrman?ring=genealogicalres2&id=70&edit
On this page you have four options i.e
Edit Web SiteInformation
and from the Members Tools box
Get Navigation Code Leave This Ring Contact RingMaster
If you wish to edit your information simple make the required alterations and submit
If you want a new navigational code select Get Navigational Code and follow the instructions
If you wish to delete a ring simply select leave this ring and follow the instructions
