Verne Lundquist: Well, in today's event, we have the last 3 ladies Olympic medalists. And each has a memory about the other...

(a close-up candid black and white photo of Kristi is shown)

Tara Lipinski: I remember watching and thinking "maybe someday, you'll never know." But I was so young, and you know, still didn't know what would happen.

(a short video clip of Kristi's 1992 Olympic short program, Blue Danube, is shown. Scott's voice-over from the event can be heard: "Triple lutz, double toe loop! She does everything so well.")

(Smiling Kristi holds up a black and white photo of Oksana)

Kristi Yamaguchi:  Oksana was on the last skaters to come out and just, you know, blew everyone away. She went out there and really put on an amazing show.

(a short video clip of the final seconds and pose of Oksana's long program at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer is shown)

Tara said ever since the Olympic festival, her career has taken off. Everyone had said 2002 was her year, but she disagreed. She said "maybe '98". Oksana says she admires Tara's talent and strength, the latter which is really important in a girl.

(a short clip of Tara's long program at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano is shown)

Kristi: It was fun watching the ladies event and of course Tara, you know, came out and just nailed it. Nailed the performance. And had so much energy and, you know, her smile from ear to ear, I think just captured everyone's heart.

(In a cute way, Kristi mimics Tara's pose in the photo. She pretends she's biting her nails like Tara.)

Tara: I think Kristi brings her own style to the the sport. And I remember when I was little, I always looked up to her, and any Olympic champion.

(short clip of Kristi landing a jump in La Cumparista is shown.)

Tara: So it's really cool to be here now and skate against them all.

(short clip of Oksana skating in her '94 Olympic long program is shown again)

Tara also says she remembers watching Oksana and thinking she had so much spunk and energy. And she thinks that is what the Olympics is about.

Oksana Baiul: Kristi is more older and mature. And Tara is like a young beauty.

Kristi: With Oksana, it's just always been her beautiful presence she has on the ice. I really look up to Tara (she says that with a big grin on her face) and she helps me and she motivates me alot. Because, you know, with what she does technically is amazing. And she just looks like she's having such a blast out there.

Tara: Everyone's friends. And it's weird, I could never feel, you know, like there's a rivalry between Kristi or Oksana. Because we know each other; we toured together. It's more fun. You go out and wish them well before they skate. It's a comradely.
