I just returned home from Las Vegas and the Brian Boitano Spectacular. It was Spectacular. I loved it. It is very late and I cannot post a great deal but I will tell you about the highlights for me.

First of all, I really LIKED John Tesh. I was prepared not to like him but not only is he a fine musician, he is a funny man. He also has known Brian a long time, having commentated on figure skating a number of years ago. He opened the show skatiing to One World -- Brian skated alone first in the opening ensemble. I really liked this music and the skating was wonderful. The rest of the cast joined him and it really flowed beautifully. Then John Tesh played a song he wrote to celebrate the new Millenium, Heart of the Sunrise and Kristi skated, it was lovely.

Rene and Gorsha skated to music I wasn't familiar with --program says it was Trjio op. 71 number i (Ghost). They were great.

Josee Chouinard skated to Rose in the Wind. I really liked this number and she skated really well. I wish I could remember more details. I have always liked Josee and would like to see her more. I remember her especially from Skating Kicks Back.

Jenni and Todd skated to Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing. It was a good number for them and I enjoyed it. Jenni singled the throw and did a double in the retakes. Urmonov skated very credibly to his Georgian Variations and Oksana skated the harem number [Arabian] again. I really wish she would put this one away and she skated badly to boot.

Then Deborah Cox sang for Brian Orser (Things Just Ain't the Same) and Brian Boitano (Nobody's Supposed to Be Here). I liked them both, especially BB's skate. It was vintage Brian, dramatic and so well skated. Can't recall the technical details but can't wait for the telecast to see this again.

Act II started with a bang. Jenni, Todd, Renee, Gorsha, Brian O. and Yvonne Gomez (standing in for Yuka Sato for this one number only) came out as the South Park Kids and skated to What Would Brian Boitano Do. It was hilarious. They all did one of Brian's signature moves during the song and Brian skated out at the end of the piece in a USA sweatsuit. Orser had a Go Canada jacket on. It was a great opener. Josee had a tough time with My Drag but made it up in retakes. Urmanov skated the Phantom of the Opera number without the hat and Jenni and Todd skated beautifully to Have I told you lately?

A very touching moment -- Orser came out to skate to Ebb Tide and the curtain opened. The cast had a birthday cake for him and we all sang happy birthday. He seemed genuinely surprised and touched. Then he skated just beautifully to a rousing ovation.

Oksana skated to a Cher number (don't recall the name) and skated pretty well. It all seems such an effort for her.

We were treated to the Wild Elephants again ( I do love this number) wonderfully skated with lots of attitude and another rousing ovation. Brian Boitano was just terrific.

Kristi skated her Smooth Santana piece and Renee and Gorsha skated to their Santana number. Both were beautifully done.

Then the four Gold Medalists [Brian B., Kristi, Alexei and Oksana] skated to Barcelona I performed live by John Tesh and the whole cast came out for the finale to Barcelona II.

Loved all the costumes for the ensembles especially. Really a first rate show.
