Snow Globes
Ages: 4 and up
You will need:
Small jar (baby-food jars work best)
Colored clay
Glitter, aluminum foil, or a package of metallic mini-star confetti
Safety scissors
Water
Clean and dry the baby-food jar and its cap.
Have your child mold the clay into a little person, animal , flower, or castle. It is important that the clay figure is small enough to fit inside the jar when the lid is screwed on. If little hands are having trouble, you can use a bigger jar.
Position the clay figure on the inside of the jar lid, pressing it down to secure it firmly to the lid. No glue should be necessary.
Add the pieces of glitter or packaged confetti stars to the jar, or use the safety scissors to cut the aluminum foil into tiny bits like confetti and add them to the jar instead.
Fill the jar almost to the top with water.
Carefully take the lid with the clay figure attached and screw it tightly on the jar.
Turn the jar over, lid side down, and with a shake of the wrist — behold the magic!
